In a recent article discussing the likely impact of generative AI on GDP and employment, Goldman Sachs cited “New Frontiers: The Origins and Content of New Work, 1940-2018,” by David Autor, Caroline Chin, Anna Salomons, and Bryan Seegmiller. The article applies findings that the majority of workers are employed in occupations that did not exist in 1940 to it’s analysis of the likely consequences of AI on employment.
